If you're planning a family-friendly day trip that’s all about water-filled fun, Sun Splash Water Park in Cape Coral should be at the top of your list!

As a mom of three energetic little ones and a teenager, I’m always on the lookout for the best spots to cool off, get active, and create memories. And let me tell you, Sun Splash is perfect for just that. Whether your kids are thrill-seekers or love to take it slow, this park has something for everyone.

In this blog, I’ll share tips and tricks to help you make the most of your visit. So grab your sunscreen and get ready for a splashing good time!

Why Sun Splash Water Park is a Must-Visit for Families

Sun Splash Water Park is Cape Coral’s largest water park and a favorite for locals and visitors alike. It’s packed with a mix of excitement, relaxation, and kiddie-friendly activities that will keep the entire family happy.

From towering water slides to a lazy river, there's enough variety to keep kids (and adults!) entertained all day long.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Exciting Water Slides: If you have older kids or teens, they’ll love slides like the Cape Fear and Electric Slide. These aren’t for the faint of heart!

  • Tot Spot for the Littles: If you have younger ones, the Tot Spot is designed just for them. Think mini slides and shallow water – perfect for toddlers.

  • Relaxing Lazy River: When you need a break (and trust me, you will!), hop on a tube and float along the lazy river. It's a great way to slow down and enjoy the sun.

First-Time Visitors: Tips to Make the Most of Your Day

Now, if this is your first visit, I’ve got a few insider tips that will help make your day stress-free and fun. Trust me, it’s all about planning ahead to avoid any meltdowns (from the kids and maybe even from you).

1. Arrive Early for Prime Seating

Sun Splash gets busy, especially on weekends and holidays. If you want a prime shady spot or a lounge chair by the pool, aim to arrive when the park opens. Early birds get the best seats!

But if you are not an early riser and prefer to arriver later, you can also rent out cabanas that will guarantee your spot in a shady area.

2. Pack Water Shoes

One thing many first-timers forget is how hot the ground can get. The pavement can heat up fast, and trust me, no one wants to be running between rides with burning feet. Water shoes are a lifesaver and will help avoid any “mom, I can’t walk” moments.

3. Bring Snacks and Drinks

While there are food options available at the park, bringing your own snacks is a smart move, especially if your little ones tend to get "hangry." I always pack a cooler with fruit, chips, and sandwiches.

But keep in mind that outside food is not allowed in the park so you will have to keep the cooler in your car and grab a return wrist band before leaving the park to enjoy your goodies. There are picnic tables in the parking lot so you can get your munch on.

You can also go out to eat at a nearby restaurant and return. Just be sure not to forget your return wristbands.

4. Stay hydrated and Bring water bottles

While there are no water fountains throughout the park, you can head over to the food and drink concession and ask them to refill your water bottles and they will do that at no charge.

5. Know the Height Requirements

Nothing puts a damper on the day like getting in line only to find out your child isn’t tall enough for the ride. Be sure to check height restrictions for slides ahead of time to avoid any tantrums (we’ve all been there).

6. Rent a Locker for Peace of Mind

As a mom, I know how much stuff we carry around. Lockers are available to rent, and they’re totally worth it. Stash your phone, wallet, and extra gear so you can focus on keeping an eye on the kiddos and having fun.

Fun for All Ages

Sun Splash is truly designed with families in mind. Whether you’ve got toddlers, tweens, or teens, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a quick rundown of what each age group can look forward to:

  • Toddlers: The Tot Spot is where you’ll likely spend most of your time. It’s safe, shallow, and packed with pint-sized slides that are just their speed.

  • Elementary-Aged Kids: The Main Pool and Family Pool are perfect for kids who love swimming but aren’t quite ready for the big slides.

  • Tweens and Teens: For the adventurous, there are the big-kid rides. The Thunder Bump and X-celerator are a couple of favorites that will leave them giggling and coming back for more.

Extra Tips for Moms

As a mom, I’m always thinking about ways to make any trip more enjoyable for everyone (including myself!). So here are a few bonus tips to make your Sun Splash visit easier:

  • Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen!: Reapply it often. Between water and the sun, it’s easy for everyone to burn quickly. I set a timer on my phone to remind me.

  • Set a Meeting Point: If you’re going with older kids who might explore the park on their own, set a meeting point in case someone gets separated.

  • Swim Diapers for the Littles: If you’ve got little ones who aren’t potty trained yet, don’t forget to pack swim diapers!

  • Check the website for discounts: Sometimes Sunsplash run promotions and you can get discounted tickets on their website. For example, throughout the entire month of August the park offered 50% of tickets, which meant we saved quite a lot of money.

What to Bring to Sun Splash for a Smooth and Fun Day

One of the keys to having a fun, stress-free day at Sun Splash Water Park is making sure you’ve packed the right essentials. As a mom who’s been through plenty of family outings, I know how important it is to be prepared for anything (including the inevitable snack attacks!).

Here’s my go-to checklist of what to bring for a smooth, enjoyable day at the water park:

1. Sunscreen (and Lots of It!)

This one’s a no-brainer, but it’s so easy to forget how fast the sun can get to you, especially when you’re in and out of the water. I recommend bringing a water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Reapply every two hours or right after swimming. Don’t forget spots like the tops of feet, behind the neck, and ears!

2. Water Shoes

As I mentioned earlier, the ground can get really hot at the park, and little feet aren’t always the most durable! Water shoes will save you a lot of complaints (and protect from slips around the wet areas). They’re also great for moving around quickly from slide to slide without worry.

3. Towels and Extra Clothes

While it might seem obvious, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen families without enough towels! Bring enough for everyone, and maybe a few extras for sitting down or drying off faster between rides. Packing a change of clothes for the ride home will keep everyone comfortable too, especially if you don’t want soggy car seats or if you are planning to go elsewhere after your visit.

4. Refillable Water Bottles

Bringing your own refillable water bottles is a lifesaver. It’ll keep everyone hydrated and save you money in the long run. Bonus tip: Freeze the bottles the night before, and you’ll have cold water for hours!

5. Snacks and a Picnic Lunch

While there’s food available at the park, packing your own snacks or a picnic lunch is a great way to ensure you have food on hand when hunger strikes. Think easy-to-eat options like sandwiches, fruit, veggie sticks, granola bars, and crackers.

6. Swim Diapers (If You Have Little Ones)

If you have babies or toddlers who aren’t potty trained yet, swim diapers are a must. The park may require them in certain areas, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Pack a few extra, just in case.

7. Hats and Sunglasses

For extra sun protection, bring along hats and sunglasses for everyone in the family. Not only will it help shield your face from the harsh rays, but it also helps avoid squinting while keeping an eye on the kids in the water.

8. A Waterproof Phone Pouch

If you’re like me and can’t go without snapping a few pics for Instagram or the family album, a waterproof phone pouch is a great investment. You can take your phone with you on the lazy river or while lounging by the pool without worrying about it getting wet.

9. A Sturdy Beach Bag or Backpack

You’ll need something big enough to carry all of these essentials. I love a good waterproof beach bag or a backpack with multiple compartments. It helps keep everything organized and easy to find when you need it.

10. A Small First Aid Kit

I always like to bring a small first aid kit with band-aids, antiseptic wipes. Kids can get scrapes or bumps even in the water, so it’s nice to be prepared just in case.

11. Toddler swim vest

While Sun Splash provides life jackets, I was not able to find any that was small enough for my three year old so I would highly recommend that you bring your own toddler swim vest. The only caveat is that it has to be Coast guard approved.

12. Lip Balm

Don't forget about sun protection for the lips and include a SPF 30+ lip balm to your bag and ensure to reapply as needed. The sun and chlorine water can cause lips to crack so a lip balm can help to protect from the sun and keep it moisturized at the same time.

I also got my cranberry hibiscus at Echo in Ft. Myers over 13 years ago and I love that they still pop up in my yard. I've been trying to find the exact macros this plant provides to your diet but all I ever come up with is info on either the tea or the flowers. I use the leaves in my salads daily when its growing fresh in my yard. I do prefer the smaller leaves for salad. Any additional info you may have is appreciated!
