The Shell Factory is a great place to visit and is definitely kid friendly. You can spend all day at the location as there is so much to do and see.
Starting with the fun park right in the beginning where you can rent bumper boats and play golf then moving to Southern grill, a southern style restaurant with live music every day.
Straight down in the back is the Shell exhibition and gift shop which covers just about 50,000 square feet of shopping space, there is something for every taste.
Another great part of the Shell Factory is the nature park which is home to over 400 animals, some of them being rescued and found animals.

1 - Bring Quarters
Some of the feeders only accept quarters so bring some change if you want to feed the birds, goats, camel, etc at the Nature Park.
2 - Free Museum and Exhibit
While there is a cost of admittance to enter the nature park, the shell museum and exhibit along with Christmas store is totally free so take your time browsing through.
3 - Get Groupon deals
Check Groupon for deals on this attraction. At the time we visited there was a promotion running that included admittance to the park plus a session of mini golf.
4 - Wear comfortable clothes
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes especially if you are planning to stay all day at the park. There's quite a lot of walking and some of the areas are not air conditioned so if you are going during the summer be prepared for the heat but the rain showers as well.
5 - Buy food for animals at the store
You can purchase carrots at the nature park gift store in case you didn't bring quarters. They do accept cash and credit/debit cards.
6 - Bring water
While you can purchase water at the gift shop, you can also save your money by bringing water to stay hydrated. It's hot and the free water available is actually is sink water which it is not recommended for drinking.
7 - Bring snacks for the kids.
The kids might get hungry while walking around the nature park so having a snack at hand can be helpful. Not to mention the Nature park has many shaded spots where you can sit to enjoy a snack.
8 - Great place for home/virtual schooled children
The museums along with the nature park provide the perfect place to take the children who are home/virtual schooled to learn about animals, shells, and much more.
9 - Dogs allowed
Dogs are allowed in the Southern Cafe grill area of the park.
