Best natural treats for dogs

We just added a new member to our family and no, it's not a baby (not yet, I am also currently 6 months pregnant) but a gorgeous and friendly beagle puppy.

Just as we are mindful about what type of foods we eat at our home, we are also mindful about the foods we feed our adorable Reesy and that couldn't be any different for her treats and chews either.

You may have heard about tragic stories where dogs choke on treats or become sick from ingesting a treat that is not suitable for eating or that contains harmful chemicals and in some cases even die. I know I have and honestly those are scary enough for me to want to stay away from the plastic and rawhide bones and other treats that contain toxins and bad ingredients.

So, I went to many big retailer pet stores and started to search for organic, natural treats for our new puppy and what I quickly found out is that the treats sold at the stores all contained some type of preservatives, which is something I was looking to stay away from.

After realizing that the search would be much harder than I initially intended, I started making our own dog treats but as a mom of three and currently pregnant, that took too much time out of my day and my puppy still needed something that was going to help her relieve the pain of growing brand new teeth.

That's when I decided to take my search online and look for natural, organic and safe chews and treats for our puppy, and just like the saying goes " search and you shall find", I did find a company right here in the United States that provides exactly what we were looking for for our new puppy.

The best natural and safe treats and chews for dogs

Raw dog chews is the home for safe and healthy treats and chews for dogs all age. From beef bones to pig ears, they have a wide variety of treats and quite frankly, I was surprised by some of them.

Take the bully sticks for examples, which is the private parts of a bull. Who would have thought that the bull's private parts is a great treat for dogs and it is also high in protein, vitamins, and minerals including calcium and magnesium.

All of their products come from pastured animals raised in South America where they are grass-fed so they can eventually become a source of high quality meat. As I mentioned earlier, I was having a tough time finding a treat that didn't contain any additives so when I read that Raw Dog Chews treats and chew are made from 100% beef or pork and contains no additives, it's free of artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives I knew I had found the perfect match.

Two other products that totally stunned me is the pig ears which comes into a package of sliced ears or a big ol' ear for your dog to chew on and the cow hooves. They are both safe for puppies and mature dogs and ensure that no animal parts go to waste.

Now, unlike rawhide treats that are extremely toxic and cannot be digested, all these treats and chews are eatable, for your dog, that is unless you want to try it out for yourself. Also, unlike rawhides that go through an extensive process of bleaching, adding glue, and artificial flavors, Raw dog chews are one single ingredients and the only process they go through is a water rinse and the bullies are cooked in the oven to ensure your pet's treat is free of any bacteria.

How to Chews Wisely?

Now, you may be wondering what is the best treat and chew for your dog and that answer will depend on your dog's size. However, a good rule of thumb is that you want your dog chew to be three times larger than the size of your dog's mouth so they cannot put the entire chew in their mouth.

Also consider variety. Every dog is different and they also enjoy different foods and tastes, so try different treats and see which one they like best. My Reesy is very fond of the bully sticks, you can't even get close to her when she is enjoying her treat, she is very selfish and won't share. In fact, she doesn't enjoy it all at once and hides the remaining so no one will get any ideas of stealing it (not that we would want it but she prefers to be safe).
