How I maintain my weight after 3 pregnancies in 5 simple steps

Honestly, I love to eat and if you follow me on Instagram you will usually see me in my stories eating something new or emphasizing how food is life!

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions from people wanting to know how I manage to eat all the time and keep the weight off ( I am currently 104 lbs, 5'1 feet, 17.4 BMI) so I figured I would address the question once and for all!

First and foremost, let me be very clear that these are the methods that work for me and in no way, shape or form am I advising you to do the same. Remember that everything you do and try, you do at your own risk.

So, here we go!

1 - Intermittent Fasting

You probably have heard of intermittent fasting and people who swear by it. Well, you have found another one person who also swears by it.

I tried intermittent fasting after giving birth to my second child to lose the baby fat and the results were great!

Not going to lie to you here, the beginning is not easy but it is all about training your mind. Your stomach and brain already have the habit of receiving food at certain times of the day and that expectation won't go away overnight.

You will have to train your body to only receive foods during your window period, this will help train your body to start targeting excess fat for fuel.

My window time to eat is from 12pm to 6 pm everyday unless I am on vacation, then I am not as strict. But remember that this varies from person to person so make sure that you pick a time that is most convenient for you if you do decide to take the intermittent fasting route.

2 - Portion Control

I rarely refrain myself from eating something I really want to unless I have already had my maximum sugar/carb intake for the day, other than that, if my mouth is asking for it then I will have some but that's all I will have; some!

Sometimes I literally just take a bite and that's enough to satisfy my taste buds.

Now, as for your regular meals, you should also portion control them. As you get older and stop growing, your body doesn't need the same amount of energy as once needed when you were younger, so if you are eating the same amount as you always did, it is time to make some changes.

3 - Eat for Nutrition, Not for Pleasure

Considering you will be intermittent fasting, be sure to eat foods that will fulfill your nutritional needs. eat for energy and for health.

The better foods you eat, the more your body will be satisfied and the sugar and carb cravings will diminish.

I am a huge consumer of protein, fiber, iron and nutrients like Omega 3, 6 & 9 as well as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat as they help me have more energy and feel more satisfied throughout the day.

My biggest recommendation as far as eating goes is EAT THE FOOD!

Do not drink it, as most of the fiber goes to waste and do not rely on vitamin pills as majority of the time our body doesn't even process the synthetic nutrients leaving you with nothing but expensive urine.

4 - Dance your butt off

I can easily get bored with working out and lifting weights, and to add to the torture, you have to keep up with the body parts you are working out so you don't look disproportionate.

Dancing on the other hand provides me with all the exercise I need without boredom striking.

To lose my baby fat after my last two pregnancies I used dance as my go to exercise, of course, eating the right foods helped too but what I am saying is that I did not rely on any heavy exercising or hours at the gym to get to my desired weight, I just turned on the tv and danced my butt off.

I found FIT DANCE on youtube, which is a Brazilian channel full of choreographies and some of the videos even teach you step by step.

The videos are fun, and they go from beginners to pro levels so you can pick the choreographies that fit you best.

5 - Detox

This is probably the easiest step on this list as all it required is for you to remember to do them!

I detox everyday by adding frankincense/lemon essential oil ( when not available I use actual lemons) to my water as well as diffusing it in the air.

I will not go into details as to what frankincense and lemon essential oil can do for your body but what I will tell you is that toxins makes it easier for fat to attach itself to cells transforming them into fat cells.

Sometimes you can do all the right things to lose weight but if you are skipping the detox part then you are probably plateauing because your metabolism isn't speeding up as your cells are still fat.

Strip the toxins and the fat goes right with it!

Keep in mind that maintaining your weight is a combination of healthy habits and while this works for me, it may not work for you.

Read books, talk to experts, experiment different diets and exercises, observe and take notes on how your body reacts to those changes and how it makes you feel.

The most important thing is to be healthy, always remember that!

Now, you tell me what you do to maintain your weight. Do you completely cut carbs and sugar? Do you exercise regularly? Let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

I also got my cranberry hibiscus at Echo in Ft. Myers over 13 years ago and I love that they still pop up in my yard. I've been trying to find the exact macros this plant provides to your diet but all I ever come up with is info on either the tea or the flowers. I use the leaves in my salads daily when its growing fresh in my yard. I do prefer the smaller leaves for salad. Any additional info you may have is appreciated!
