Fun Dinner with dessert under 30 minutes with Mad Dash Mixes

Life can get a bit hectic sometimes and unfortunately, I don't always have the time (or feel like) cooking a whole meal for my family of five.

So, when I received my Mad Dash Mixes the first week of October, I knew it was God sending me an extra hand as it is one of the busiest months of the year with tons of events and of course, Halloween!

The arrival

Each one of the mixers comes in its own packaging and although super cute, they are very simple and yet labeled with all the information you need to know about the products such as:

Ingredients

Nutritional Value

Allergens

Instructions to prepare it

Information about the company

What I really liked as I read the labels for each mix is how careful the company is in not using any MSG in their mixes, I love when a company cares about quality of their products.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner !

The day I decided to try out my first batch of Mad Dash Mixes was the day after a performance I did for the opening of a dark/halloween art gallery ( you can watch the performance here) and I was just simply jaded, not to mention that the day of the trial, hubby and I also took the kids to a pumpkin patch.

However, I try my hardest to feed my children with healthy and real foods. I don't find it fair that they have to suffer because I am too tired to cook for them so, truly Mad Dash mixers arrived at the right time for my family and I!

Now, we thought that the Mediterranean Pasta Salad would be a first great option to try as we all love pasta and chicken. The package includes wheat pasta and a seasoning mixer to give your salad that mediterranean zesty flavor.

Here are the items you will need to purchase separately:

Mayonaise

Canned or Rotisserie Chicken

Black Olives

Little disclosure: I did not include any olives, while I love them my husband despises them with a passion. If that's your case you can totally leave them out as well.

The entire dish took me about 15 minutes to complete and that is mainly due to waiting for the water to boil then for the pasta to cook.

Once the pasta is ready all you really have to do is mix the seasoning mixer with the mayo, add in the chicken and olives and finally, throw in the fully cooked pasta. I also sprinkled some parmesan cheese on top as I served the dish. We did not wait for the pasta to cool as directed in the instructions as we wanted a hot meal so, if you prefer it hot rather than having it as salad, it totally works as well.

I must confess that I was pretty blown away, not only with the little time and effort that it took to make it but also with the taste! You see, with three young children at home, dinner time can get a little tense, a lot of convincing has to happen for them to finish their meal. However, not this time, everyone cleaned out their plates!

The meal was delicious, it does have a little kick to it but it isn't spicy. Take it from someone who cannot handle any kind of spicy food at all but if you like zesty and full of flavor dishes, you are certain to enjoy the Mediterranean Pasta Salad too!

Saving the best for last

I really enjoy cooking but honestly, baking is not my forte, so when I saw the option for  "no bake" cheesecake I had to jump on it!

I was super excited to try this No Bake Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Mix as I had never made cheesecake before, honestly, the whole process always intimidated me but this mixer from Mad Dash Mixers seemed easy and simple enough.

First and foremost, here are the ingredients you will need to make this super easy cheesecake :

Cream Cheese

Cool Whip

Oreo Cookie Crust

Mad Dash No Bake Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Mix

Secondly, all you really have to do is soften up the cream cheese, add the cool whip and No Bake Chocolate Chip Cheesecake mix, blend everything very well and it is ready to go in to the pie crust.

Now, how about the taste you may ask? DELICIOUS! Hubby couldn't believe how great it tasted and how quick and easy it was to make it and I couldn't believe I actually made cheesecake!

No more spending money on gourmet cheesecake when I can make my own at the comfort of my home for a fraction of the cost and in less time that it would take me to got to the store.

Not so pretty because I didn't have the energy to decorate it but super delicious !

How much we actually spent?

Finally, let's bring out the calculator and see how much we actually spent on this entire meal including dessert for a family of five.

Entire cost for dinner and dessert:  $21.57

Cost to make Mediterranean Pasta Salad : $9.50

Cost to make No Bake Chocolate Chip Cheesecake : $12.07

So basically, for a little over $20 I was able to feed my entire family including dessert and we still had left over cheesecake. That's about $4.30 per person for nutritious food cooked at home!!
