Yesterday, I heard my little one let out a dry cough and that was enough for me to run and grab my On Guard essential oil to diffuse it all day long. I really try to stay away from using medicinal drugs on my family and I believe that everything our body needs can be found in nature.

What's On Guard?

Now, if you aren't familiar with the On Guard essential oil by DoTerra is an amazing blend of five different oils : Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.

The reason the on guard essential oil is such a great blend is because each component has on its own its greats benefits to the human body and when combined they become powerful allies to the our immune system.

What makes On Guard so great

Here's a brief description of each oil's capabilities:

Wild Orange - Contains high levels of d-limonene, which has demonstrated potential in inhibiting cancer tumor growth and has also been shown to reduce cholesterol levels in animal studies. It is a powerful disinfectant and very effective against colds and flu.

Clove - Has high antioxidant properties and is anti infectious and helps support healthy liver and thyroid function.

Cinnamon - It is a powerful purifier, a powerful oxygenator, and it enhances the action and the activity ion other oils. It has antibacterial, anti fungus, anti infectious, anti inflammatory, anti microbial, anti parasitic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, astringent, immune stimulant, sexual stimulant and warming.

How to use On Guard

Considering On Guard is effective for a number of things, you can use it in so many different ways Here are some ways you can use On Guard:

1 - Dilute and gargle morning and night as a protective mouth rinse

2 - Dilute one drop in 15 drops of coconut oil:

Massage the thymus to stimulate the immune system

Massage under arms to stimulate the lymphatic system

3- Add to water for an effective all-purpose surface cleaner

4 - Add two to three drops in a veggie capsule for an immune boost

5 - Soak sliced apples in water and a few drops for a healthy, immune-boosting snack

6 -Combine a few drops of doTERRA On Guard with Fractionated Coconut Oil for a natural hand cleanser

7 - Diffuse it to help purify the air and provide a very energizing and uplifting environment

Quite honestly, I use all of those methods, however, my preferred one is adding a drop of the On guard to my cup of coffee. As weird as it may sounds, I like the extra kick it gives my cup of joe and it also makes me feel better knowing that although I am enjoying this super creamy, full of sugar drink, I am also giving my immune system a little boost with the On Guard.

Does it work?

Let's start by saying that we are all different and that's an amazing thing! But you see, the thing about me is that I love experimenting with things but I am the type to only stick with things that really work and I am not afraid of moving on from the one that don't!

With that being said, I have experimented with essential oils for a while before I could make any assumptions and also observed how mine and my family's immune system acted and reacted after adding and removing the oils.

With my oldest son having autism, we are constantly experimenting with new and different things (besides medication and drugs) to see what works and what doesn't and the essential oils do!

In this case, after a whole day and night of diffusing On Guard in the rooms where the baby was, he woke up and didn't cough once and remained that way.
